Nightguards

If you often wake up with jaw pain, earaches, or headaches, or if you find yourself clenching or grinding your teeth, you may have a common condition called “bruxism.” Many people do not even know that they grind their teeth, as it often occurs when one is sleeping. If not corrected, bruxism can lead to broken teeth, cracked teeth, or even tooth loss.

There is an easy, non-invasive treatment for bruxism: nightguards. Nightguards are an easy way to prevent the wear and damage that teeth-grinding causes over time. Custom-made by Dr. Yang from soft material to fit your teeth, a nightguard is inserted over your top or bottom arch.

Nitrous Oxide

“Laughing gas” is given to a patient with a combination of oxygen. It has a relaxing effect that helps restless people calm down during their dental treatment. While using nitrous oxide, the patient remains conscious and can speak with the dentist about the procedure. The calming effect is gone almost immediately after the procedure is over. This allows the person to drive home safely. Nitrous oxide can hardly have any side effects when used properly on patients.

Dental Lasers

Dental lasers are used for a wide variety of procedures, including soft tissue management, hard tissue procedures, and pain management. They can be used for procedures like frenectomies, gum recontouring, removing tumors, treating periodontal disease, and accelerating teeth whitening. Lasers can also help with post-operative pain management and reduce bleeding and swelling during soft tissue treatments.

Soft Tissue Applications:

  • Less Need for Anesthesia:
  • In some cases, lasers may reduce the need for anesthesia due to minimal tissue trauma and reduced pain.
  • Frenectomy:

Lasers can be used for non-surgical frenectomy, which involves removing or reshaping muscle attachments that may restrict tongue or lip movement.

  • Gum Recontouring:

Lasers can be used to reshape or remove gum tissue, address issues like gingival hyperplasia, and reveal more of the natural tooth surface during crown lengthening procedures.

  • Periodontal Disease:

Lasers can be used to target and remove plaque and tartar build-up, treat gingivitis, and promote healthy gum tissue regeneration.

  • Benign Tumor Removal:

Lasers can remove benign tumors in the mouth without the need for traditional surgery or sutures.

Pain Management:

  • Post-operative Pain:

Lasers can help reduce post-operative pain and inflammation by decreasing the firing frequency of pain receptors.
